This Virtual Parish Assembly gives an overview and update of the merger process for Butler Area Catholic Parishes, which includes St. Andrew, St. Conrad (St. Fidelis), St. Michael the Archangel, St. Paul and St. Peter in Butler, PA.

Our five parishes are tentatively scheduled to merge into one parish on July 1. In the fall, parishioners submitted possible names for the new parish. The list of potential names is now down to the “Elite Eight:”

• All Saints
• Blessed Sacrament
• Christ the King
• Good Shepherd
• Mary, Queen of All Nations
• St. Francis Xavier
• St. Thomas Aquinas
• Transfiguration

Parishioners will be given the opportunity to offer feedback on the names. Check ButlerAreaCatholicParishes.org or our bulletin or Facebook page for the latest information on how to do that.

Our pastoral and finance councils, working with the clergy, will analyze the feedback and then submit a list of five proposed names in preferential order to Bishop David Zubik.
The bishop is expected to announce his decision on the name by the end of May.
