Virtual Parish Assembly
Since the pandemic hit us in March 2020 -- resulting in either limited or no gatherings of people (other than for Mass) -- parishes in our diocese have continued the merger process and hosted Virtual Parish Assemblies to inform parishioners about different aspects of the merger.
The Virtual Parish Assembly for Butler Area Catholic Parishes will be held on Wednesday, February 10, at 7pm. We will provide information via the bulletin, and on our website regarding how you can view the presentation offered that evening. If you do not have internet access, you may call 724-482-2690 after February 10 to speak with Cindy Cusic Micco (extension 225) with any questions you might have about the merger, slated for July 1, 2021.
St. Peter Parish Anniversary
2021 marks the 200th Anniversary for St. Peter Parish, the oldest established Catholic parish in Butler County.
Due to the restrictions that COVID-19 has placed on public gatherings, we will celebrate a livestream Mass on Wednesday, February 22, at 7pm -- the feast of the Chair of St. Peter -- in commemoration of the anniversary. The only people permitted in the church building for the Mass will be clergy, the lector, the organist and the cantor. We will have information regarding how you can participate by viewing online within the next few weeks.
March for Life
Given the unfortunate circumstances surrounding COVID-19, and the unrest in our nation's capital, we have had very few people sign up for the bus we were sponsoring to travel to Washington, D.C. on Friday, January 29, for March for Life.
As a result, I have decided to cancel the bus for this year.
We will certainly be united in prayer that day, specifically for the purpose of transforming human hearts in recognition of the value of every single human in all stages of life, beginning in a mother's womb.
(NOTE: See info below about March for Life going virtual.)
Parish Share Program
As we wind down another Parish Share Program (PSP) year by mid-February, you will receive a letter from me regarding the new PSP year soon to commence.
For this year, we have exceeded our goals by over $65,000, which means every penny of that $65,000+ stays in our parishes (soon to be singular -- parish).
If you are considering making any financial contributions to your parish within the next few weeks, please consider earmarking it for PSP, which will guarantee it will stay in the parish.
Thank you for your generosity, especially during a year when our main fundraisers (fish fries) either have been canceled, or have been limited.
Lent
Please stay tuned for our Lenten schedule, which begins on Wednesday, February 17!
As of today, there will NOT be an Ash Wednesday Fish Fry at St. Michael the Archangel.
However, the St. Fidelis Fish Fry is still scheduled to begin on Friday, February 12, and run every Friday through March 26, from 4pm - 7pm, as a TAKEOUT ONLY event.
I pray for you daily,
Yours in Christ,
Father Kevin C. Fazio
The March for Life will be a virtual event livestreamed from Washington, D.C., on Jan. 29 from 11am to 1:15pm with inspiring speeches from pro-life leaders, information on how to stay involved in the pro-life movement all year long, and a performance by Christian singer and songwriter Matthew West.
“We will invite a small group of pro-life leaders from across the country to march in Washington, DC this year. These leaders will represent pro-life Americans everywhere who, each in their own unique ways, work to make abortion unthinkable and build a culture where every human life is valued and protected,” according to the event’s website.
“The protection of all of those who participate in the annual March, as well as the many law enforcement personnel and others who work tirelessly each year to ensure a safe and peaceful event, is a top priority of the March for Life.
“In light of the fact that we are in the midst of a pandemic which may be peaking, and in view of the heightened pressures that law enforcement officers and others are currently facing in and around the Capitol, this year’s March for Life will look different.”
Sign up for the livestream by clicking on the poster or going to MarchForLife.org/2021-virtual-events. You will receive an email on Jan. 29 with a link to the livestream.
